Asphalt innovation
A leader for almost 80 years in developing products for the most
challenging site conditions, Husky Asphalt listens to its custom-ers
and delivers products and services targeted to specific needs.
For example, the Black Max™ family of polymer-modified asphalts
(PMA) were developed by Husky in response to the extreme tem-perature
fluctuations pavement endures in the northern U.S.
and Canada.
Next up? Husky is bringing innovative thinking to recycled as-phalt
With environmental concerns top-of-mind in the paving indus-try,
agencies are looking to use RAP in their asphalt mix. And emerg-ing
research indicates that Husky Asphalt is well suited to the task.
“We make great soft asphalt,” said Brett Lambden, technical ser-vices
and innovation manager for Husky Asphalt. “Research pre-sented
at the 2018 Peterson Asphalt Research Conference shows
that Husky’s softer asphalt binder can lessen some of the negative
effects of the RAP binder on the fatigue and low temperature crack-ing
on roadways.”
The bottom line is Husky’s approach and technology allow road
builders to achieve significantly better results due to:
• the quality of its asphalt cement (better asphalt cement equals
better roads); and
• the efficiency it affords over other products (as an example, you
can use more recycled product per the volume of cement used)
The Asphalt Team
They are called the Asphalt Team: Husky’s researchers, quality con-trol
specialists and technical support staff. They are always available
with onsite support and solutions at every stage of a project.
“Husky Asphalt’s focus on excellence closely matches our own,
which is why we continue to collaborate with them,” said David
Paslawski, president of ASL Paving Ltd. “Their team’s technical ex-pertise
is something we can always count on to ensure our paving
projects are completed successfully.”
