HP Storm Culvert Pipe
ADS polypropylene pipe is used extensively for culverts
under roadways. Our HP Storm (High Performance)
dual-wall pipe is made of polypropylene and is the
perfect choice when premium joint performance and/or
greater pipe stiffness is required. HP Storm pipe is
available in diameters from 12”-60” (300-1500 mm).
HP Storm pipe is tough enough to handle the most
abrasive runoffs and the pipe can withstand H20 and
E80 loads.

Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation is investigating to
see how best to improve safety at the intersection where the deadly
crash happened.
Canadian provinces are building more roundabouts – there are
about 400 in Canada, with Manitoba currently constructing its first.
In Alberta, there are 11 roundabouts, with seven more in the
planning stages. B.C. has built roundabouts, but uses other trafficslowing
measures like four-way stops or lights.
David Marit, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Highways and
Infrastructure, says his department’s first priority at dangerous intersections
is to slow down traffic. When it comes to roundabouts,
he said, “I won’t rule it out, but at this time we haven’t really looked
at them.”
“When we look at the Humboldt tragedy, that intersection
already has lights and rumble strips, driver error caused the crash
in that instance,” said Lipp. “More attention needs to be paid – especially
with the big trucks coming through the province – to better
training, qualifications of drivers, better fatigue management rules
in place. Those are a better use of government’s time.”
Lipp says that a longer training period for long-haul truck operators,
or a “buddy” system might be a solution to highway safety.
“We can’t fix every intersection in the province, unfortunately,”
she said. “I’m sure some intersections in the province are more
dangerous than others. Maybe they need to start looking at some
of those and where they’re located and find a different way of tackling
that problem. But I don’t think redesigning our road system to
put roundabouts at every intersection is going solve our problems
on the roads.”
