In addition, PBN worked on Cameco’s
McArthur River Fox Lake Trail reclamation
project in 2015. The company decommis-sioned
about 60 kilometres of road, which
included the removal of bridges and cul-verts,
the installation of one bridge, the
revegetation of borrow areas and general
clean-up of the right of way.
According to Schmidt, PBN owns about
two dozen or so pieces of heavy equipment
ranging from excavators, bulldozers, rock
trucks, loaders and graders. It also oper-ates
a large fleet of support equipment like
trucks for transporting water and fuel.
“With our heavy equipment and all our
support equipment, we have upwards of 45
to 50 pieces,” said Schmidt, adding that ad-ditional
machinery will often be leased as
well if the project warrants it.
PBN joined the Saskatchewan Heavy
Construction Association (SHCA) in 2016
to take advantage of the networking oppor-tunities
and communication benefits that
come with SHCA membership.
“There are a number of things that we see
as being valuable,” said Schmidt. “We want-ed
to become more established within the
earthworks industry in Saskatchewan, and
also to get to know other contractors and
become a bit more knowledgeable about
what’s happening in the industry within
the province.”
